Abstract

Jamu has often been regarded as outdated, acrid, unsanitary, and only favored by a small section of the middle and lower income groups, making it increasingly unsustainable in the contemporary era. This article delves into the efforts of forward-thinking individuals who are modernizing jamu to gain wider acceptance. The content of this article has been derived from observations, interactions with jamu experts, and personal experiences as a jamu consumer. Its aim is twofold: firstly, to pique the interest and inquisitiveness of Indonesian teenagers and youth towards jamu, and secondly, to encourage more innovators to create unique jamu products using their respective expertise. Modern jamu's key features are: novel menu concepts, education, fresh experiences, appearance, attributes, and facilities. Ultimately, the author wishes that this article will have a positive influence on jamu enthusiasts and aficionados, inspiring them to continually innovate to ensure that jamu remains relevant to the market. Authors depict these marvelous efforts in a form of zine illustrations to help readers quickly understand the world of jamu.
