Abstract

Fashion is everything that is worn to cover the body and support appearance. Fashion has various models that are adapted to the character of the wearer and the event. One type of fashion based on occasion is party clothing which is divided into morning parties, afternoon parties, evening parties and gala parties. Cocktail party clothing is one of the styles worn on semi-formal occasions which is characterized by knee-length or below-the-knee skirts. Clothing is made based on ideas. One source of ideas that can be implemented is movie. This research aims to create a cocktail party dress inspired by the movie Moulin Rouge using the 4D method (define, design, development, disseminate). The definition stage includes data collection, the design stage for making fashion designs, the development stage to produce finished products which are then validated by experts and the distribution stage, namely product distribution through fashion shows. The result is a cocktail party dress with empire lines, a seven-piece skirt, wrinkled accents, back straps, and crochet trim. Clothing accessories such as hats, gloves and choker necklaces are used to match the characteristics of the Moulin Rouge costume.
