In today's competitive market, innovative packaging is essential. It not only enhances the attractiveness of a product but also ensures its quality, reinforces brand identity, and facilitates distribution. Concurrently, Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, holds deep cultural significance for the Chinese community, characterized by traditions such as Gift-giving, particularly with creatively packaging, is a key tradition during this festive period, reflecting love and happiness. The research employs the Research through Design (RtD) methodology, utilizing a combination of designing, prototyping, and user feedback to explore complex issues in packaging design. The research focus on three layers of Chinese culture: outer, middle, and inner. The design process then unfolded, defining concepts for innovative packaging for lapis legit cake inspired by crane and calligraphy, employing the 5W+1H method for problem-solving and sketching designs. These iterative design processes culminated in innovative, culturally resonant packaging solutions that enriched the Chinese New Year celebration experience.
