TRANSFORMASI LIMBAH DENIM MENJADI TAS MODE BERKELANJUTAN DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN MOTIF ANYAMAN

Abstract

Denim, a strong and durable textile material, has a long history as the main material for jeans, since it was first introduced in Genoa, Italy in the 1560s. Denim has become a symbol of style and comfort, but the environmental impact of denim production and disposal is a serious problem. This article discusses the problem of denim waste in Indonesia, one of the largest consumers of denim, involving the garment, convection and jeans industries. The sad fact is that jeans are one of the fashion industry's largest sources of waste, contributing to water pollution and other environmental impacts. In this context, this research tries to present an alternative by processing denim waste into woven bags. This article uses qualitative research methods to determine the process of creating woven motifs from denim waste, as well as presenting the results of experiments and discussions related to the creation of motifs and designs. The survey also includes the results of a survey of respondents which shows the high level of public trust in products made from denim waste and the high level of interest in woven motif bags. Processing denim waste to produce functional products such as woven motif bags is expected to reduce environmental impacts and encourage sustainability in the fashion industry.
